FAQ

Asked first, every time.

Don't see yours here? Send us the question — a principal engineer will reply within 24 hours.

What is a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)?

A Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is a highly skilled, client-facing software engineer who embeds directly inside your team or environment. Unlike remote builders who develop in isolation, FDEs focus on deployment, custom integration, and scaling the product on your infrastructure.

How does an FDE differ from standard staff augmentation?

Standard staff augmentation provides developers to write code against a backlog. FDEs are solution-oriented; they bridge the gap between product capability and customer environment, dealing with complex stakeholders, APIs, custom tools, and systems integration.

What technical stacks do your Forward Deployed Engineers specialize in?

They excel in full-stack engineering, cloud architecture, and data pipelines. Stacks include React, Next.js, Node.js, Python, Go, Java, .NET, Swift, Kotlin, React Native, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

How do FDEs handle security and data compliance within our environment?

FDEs operate under your security controls, IAM policies, and compliance parameters. We align with enterprise standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001) and run inside your private cloud or virtual private network without data exfiltration.

Can an FDE assist in client-facing platform integrations?

Yes. FDEs are trained to work directly with your customers, helping them onboard, integrate your API, build custom plugins, and troubleshoot deployment challenges, acting as your technical advocates.

What is the onboarding timeline for embedding an FDE?

Typically less than 2 weeks. We map your architectural requirements and match vetted FDEs from our bench within 48 hours for immediate setup and standups.

Do you offer a trial or replacement guarantee for FDE placements?

Yes. If an engineer is not the right technical or culture fit within the first two weeks, we replace them immediately with zero disruption and no additional charge.

Who owns the code and intellectual property produced by the FDEs?

You do. All source code, deployment scripts, custom tools, and documentation developed by our embedded FDEs belong entirely to your organization.
