The Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model is a structured offshore engagement where a partner builds your offshore development center, operates it on your behalf, and then transfers full ownership to you. The typical BOT engagement spans 12–24 months from kickoff to full ownership transfer. The Build phase takes 2–3 months (entity setup, hiring, infrastructure), the Operate phase runs 6–18 months (delivery, scaling, stabilization), and the Transfer phase takes 2–3 months (legal handover, knowledge transfer, post-transfer support). Timelines are customized based on team size and complexity.

A dedicated team is an ongoing managed service where MDS retains operational ownership indefinitely. In the BOT model, the end goal is full transfer — you eventually own the team, infrastructure, legal entity, and all processes. BOT is specifically designed for companies that want to build their own captive offshore center or GCC, not just access managed engineering resources.

During Transfer, we hand over all employment contracts, infrastructure access, operational processes, vendor agreements, and legal entity ownership to your organization. We provide a structured transition plan with detailed documentation, knowledge transfer sessions, leadership handover, and a 90-day post-transfer support period to ensure operational continuity.

We recommend a minimum of 10 engineers for a BOT engagement to justify the operational overhead and infrastructure investment. However, we can start with a smaller team and scale to the target size during the Operate phase. For teams under 10, the COPO (Company-Owned, Partner-Operated) model may be a more cost-effective alternative.
