As of right now, UXP is not yet fully available or feature-complete for After Effects. CEP remains the standard for building modern, web-based extensions. Migrating to CEP now is the best step away from legacy C++.
No! The biggest leap is moving from C++ to JavaScript/React. Once your plugin's UI is built in CEP using modern web technologies, the eventual transition to UXP will be much smaller and faster.
