Project Overview
Our client, a large Indian bank, needed to escape the restrictive licensing and high maintenance overhead of their legacy Sitecore CMS. They required a robust, enterprise-grade replacement that could handle highly complex, multilingual content and strict compliance integrations, while drastically improving the mobile user experience.
We executed a multi-phased migration strategy to transition the bank to an open-source Drupal architecture. Phase 1 focused on crawling over 2,500 pages to perfectly replicate content, functionality, and SEO structures. We successfully built the new Drupal platform, mapping over 600 custom redirects to ensure zero SEO loss, and integrated essential third-party CRM, analytics, and consent management tools. Delivered end-to-end in 3.5 months, the new platform provides massive cost savings and lays the groundwork for Phase 2 mobile modernization and Phase 3 AI optimizations.
Discovery & Comprehensive Scraping
Before any migration occurred, we deployed advanced crawling scripts against the legacy Sitecore portal. We successfully inventoried approximately 2,500 pages, categorizing unique templates, identifying functional components, and thoroughly documenting the site’s hierarchy to guarantee a 1:1 migration blueprint for Phase 1.
Drupal Architecture & Multilingual Setup
We architected a highly scalable Drupal backend tailored for enterprise banking needs. Utilizing Drupal’s powerful core multilingual capabilities, we built localized content workflows that allowed the bank to seamlessly publish complex financial products across multiple regional dialects without architectural friction.

Data Migration & SEO Preservation
Migrating the data required absolute precision. We transferred all content, metadata, and SEO tags, meticulously preserving the original URL structures. To handle deprecated paths and structural anomalies, we mapped and implemented over 600 custom 301 redirects, fully mitigating any risk to the bank’s critical organic search footprint.
Systems Integration & Future-Proofing
The new Drupal platform was heavily integrated with the bank’s essential third-party ecosystem. We built secure connectors for their legacy CRM, Web Analytics suites, and strict Consent Management platforms. This open-source, API-ready foundation perfectly positions the bank for Phase 2 design modernizations and Phase 3 AI content enhancements.
Key Challenges

Establishing a scalable foundation for future AI-powered content optimization and mobile design overhauls.
Results & Outcomes
The end-to-end migration was completed in just 3.5 months, successfully transitioning the bank away from their restrictive legacy systems. By moving to Drupal, the bank entirely eliminated exorbitant Sitecore licensing fees and significantly reduced ongoing maintenance overhead.
With 2,500+ pages migrated and 600+ redirects successfully mapped, the bank retained 100% of its SEO equity. The new platform not only meets all Phase 1 requirements for functional parity and multilingual support, but also delivers a scalable, highly optimized architecture ready for advanced AI integrations and mobile redesigns.
