Project Overview
The client was running a legacy healthcare application built on an outdated Java architecture. The system struggled with high latency in patient portals, slow Electronic Health Record (EHR) synchronization, and lacked support for modern telemedicine workflows.
MetaDesign Solutions led a complete agentic rewrite of the platform, migrating the entire application to the MERN stack. The new architecture introduced real-time WebSockets for telemedicine consultations and modernized the EHR integration layer, drastically improving the patient and provider experience. By utilizing an AI-assisted rewrite process, we were able to map out and translate complex medical logic without disrupting daily hospital operations.
Architecture Modernization to MERN
We performed a comprehensive migration from the legacy Java monolith to a modern, decoupled MERN stack architecture (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js). This shift allowed for greater scalability, faster deployment cycles, and easier integration with modern cloud services.
Real-time Telemedicine Integration
To support the growing need for remote healthcare, we implemented real-time communication protocols using WebSockets and WebRTC. This enabled secure, low-latency video consultations directly within the patient portal.
