Trends in the Front-end development

TOP TRENDS IN THE FRONT-END DEVELOPMENT SPACE

“First impressions go a long way”. This phrase holds true in the Tech Industry as well. However, in the Tech world, first impressions are not limited to just looks alone. The term ‘User Experience’ was likely coined keeping this in mind because, in the digital world, first impressions extend quite a bit beyond a simple glance at a screen. One can include how quickly the website or application loads, or the overall responsiveness in the list of factors that affect the impression a Front-end experience can have. Studies show that a good front-end experience is vital to the success of any company or application.

User Front-end experiences data

Front-end experiences have advanced significantly over the last few years. Advancements are no longer limited to design language changes and improvements to the overall fluidity under usage. A wide range of new elements have gained prominence in the Front-end development space, ranging from radical new UI experiences to additions that transcend the simple user experiences of yesterday.

The following list should shine some light on the trends that are shaping the Front-end Development space for the coming years

1) Evolution of JavaScript-based Technologies

Think Front-end development services, and JavaScript Development is usually the first thing that comes to mind. Ever since its launch JavaScript has held the front end development market in a vice-like grip. However, JavaScript has not been stagnating since its release. Many adaptations and updates later, we have several technologies based on JavaScript that have gained traction over the last 5 years or so. Although based on JavaScript, these Frameworks have carved out a name for themselves and offer a wide range of benefits over each other, giving front-end developers a lot of options to choose from.

Statistical Representation of Front-end

ReactJS

React had an especially good year in 2017, with extremely high adoption rates among developers worldwide. React is immensely versatile and has enabled developers to tether ReactJS development services to that of AR/VR, Internet of Things among other technologies. Considering the boom in AR and VR devices alone, ReactJS is likely to be indispensable over the next few years for developers.

Vue.js

Although Vue.JS started out smaller than React and Angular, It’s community has steadily supported it and now it is considered one of the finest Frameworks for front-end development. It is lightweight, feature-rich, easy to learn and has a vast set of tools to work with. All of these attributes can result in dynamic and robust websites and applications which have contributed to Vue.Js increasing popularity, and it looks like the next few years will prove extremely fruitful for the technology and put Vuejs development services in great demand.

Angular

Although the first few quarters of 2017 were somewhat lukewarm for Angular, This Google backed framework received a significant update in November and another one in May 2018. Being a reliable and battle-tested framework, trends indicate that Angular development services will continue to remain in high demand for the foreseeable future.

Online experiences of Front-end user

2) GraphQL

Developed by Facebook, GraphQL is an API query language with a unique syntax. It is a far more comprehensive take on traditional REST APIs. GraphQL greatly simplifies data aggregation of simultaneously transmitted data from multiple sources. GraphQL is especially proficient at creating better mobile websites and web apps, which considering recent trends, is going to be especially useful in future.

3) Chatbots are becoming a part of the standard front-end experience

While chatbots are a feature on many websites nowadays, they are now pegged to be included as an essential user interface experience, owing to their usefulness and how frequently people prefer to engage with them. Chatbots have proven themselves especially useful in the customer service sector, and with huge improvements in conversational ability, they are now being implemented across the board in the front-end development space. Studies show that chatbots will now be ubiquitous in most if not all front-end experiences.

4) Motion and Movement based User Interfaces

Although Material Design and Minimalism are the dominating themes when it comes to front-end design these days, new types of front-end experiences are always cropping up. Motion/Movement based user interfaces are steadily gaining in popularity and are expected to have a big impact over the next few years, especially with mobile hardware getting more capable every year. To put it simply, Motion UI’s continuously react to user inputs, and not just touch responses. Front-end experiences will be able to react to one’s eyes and physical gestures as well. This goes a long way in increasing a user interface’s immersiveness.

5) IoT pushing a whole new kind of Front-end Development

The Internet of Things has influenced the growth of many forms of development, and Front-end development is no exception. Virtually every product we use these days, be it lights, fans, refrigerators, cars, etc. is being reconfigured to be internet connected and ‘always on’. These devices require specialized UI’s and therefore need targeted front-end development. Considering the vast quantities these devices are being sold at, and the numbers to which they are projected to grow into, Front-end development will see a lot of activity in the coming years in conjunction with IoT development services.

Study of Users First Impression with UI

A vital cog in building the future

Despite being the first aspect of an application or website one encounters, Front-end experiences are ironically relegated to the background of one’s mind when interacting with an application or gauging its functionality, unless they are badly done which can completely doom an application. However, trends are showing that is about to change. With more and more useful and interactive elements constituting the front-end experience of today, Front-end Development will play a pivotal role in an app’s success, both now and in the future.
