A startup approached MetaDesign Solutions with the goal of creating an intuitive and feature-packed learning application that could operate seamlessly across a wide range of devices, accommodating various hardware capabilities. Additionally, the application needed to be efficient on low-speed bandwidth, ensuring accessibility for all users. From the outset, it was envisioned to include several key attributes, such as an Integrated Chatbot, a comprehensive Question Bank, Chapter Summaries, a Dashboard with built-in analytics, and Customized Daily Plans and Tests tailored to individual users’ needs.

Scorace approached MetaDesign Solutions with the goal of creating an intuitive and feature-packed learning application that could operate seamlessly across a wide range of devices, accommodating various hardware capabilities. Additionally, the application needed to be efficient on low-speed bandwidth, ensuring accessibility for all users. From the outset, Scorace was envisioned to include several key attributes, such as an Integrated Chatbot, a comprehensive Question Bank, Chapter Summaries, a Dashboard with built-in analytics, and Customized Daily Plans and Tests tailored to individual users’ needs.
Challenges
The development of a comprehensive and intelligent e-learning tool, presented several challenges. First, numerous UI elements required customization beyond what was readily available, necessitating the creation of unique components. Additionally, displaying special characters for math elements posed a problem, which was resolved by implementing a customized Math engine. Furthermore, the lack of publicly available analytics services that met the application’s specific requirements led to the development of a custom analytics service using MongoDB, enabling detailed analysis of user progress.
Solution Scope and Services
The application required to run on a wide range of devices with minimal barriers to entry to installation. MDS utilized their extensive development expertise to divide the application into multiple modules, with each module having the ability to call upon other modules when necessary.
Critical features (as mentioned below) have been seamlessly integrated into the application:
a.) An ‘always available’ Chatbot which can guide the user should they have any query regarding the app or their study plan.
b.) A Question bank which provides test questions relevant to the topics at hand in accordance with the user’s progress.
c.) An informative and intuitive dashboard which provides updates and guidance to the user.
d.) Achievement and badges tied to a user’s progress.
Native Android development
MetaDesign Solutions (MDS) developed the application natively on Android, utilizing the full capabilities of the Android SDK. The core logic of the app was built on a Java base, with XML used for the user interface and SQLite for storage. This approach ensured a robust and seamless performance across Android devices.
Web & Server-Side development
For the web application, we employed Angular, HTML, and CSS to create a fluid and intuitive user experience. The team integrated Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to assess student performance, automatically assigning relevant questions from the Question Bank and providing advanced analytics. This enhanced the educational experience by tailoring content to individual student needs.
Modular Architecture for future Growth
A modular structure was implemented to accommodate future expansions and feature additions. This forward-thinking design was crucial for the long-term ambitions of the platform, ensuring that the application could evolve and scale with new functionalities as needed.
Results
MetaDesign Solutions was successful in overcoming the challenges faced during development and in delivering a comprehensive, feature-packed, scalable and intuitive e-learning platform. The application provides several tools to aid students in learning and presents relevant tests as well as a facility to upload their answers for grading. This interactive and personalized study tool has proved itself a boon for students across India.
